While there are significant benefits to being an independent candidate, it does mean I do not have a campaign team behind me! As the campaign continues I will add more information about the priorities, issues that are raised, and what my stance is on key topics of conversation.
Thank you for your patience while I get it all finished!
Infrastructure
We need roads that are maintained, public toilets that work, public transport that connects us.
I will work to find ways to bring our services back to a standard we can be proud of.
Tourism
A clear and effective strategy is essential. The current tourist levy proposal does not meet our needs.
I will push for better solutions that are fair and practical.
Renewables and Community Voice
Communities must have a voice in the future of renewables.
I will work to ensure local perspectives are heard and respected.
Health and Social Care
Essential services must be restored for the whole area. Some progress has been made since the Sir Lewis Ritchie recommendations but there is still a long way to go.
I will work with everyone to ensure healthcare and social care delivery is working for the benefit of all.
Housing
We need affordable and accessible housing where it’s most needed. Young people especially need to have the opportunity to access housing to be able to live within their communities.
I will work alongside Highland Council and other housing organisations to find solutions.
Education and Childcare
Schools are often the heart of our communities – we need to invest in not only the buildings but the pupils, staff, and volunteers. Childcare provision needs to be as part of this conversation.
I will work with parents, communities, and businesses to ensure appropriate opportunities are in place.
Community Culture: Past, Present and Future
Our communities are always changing and yet retain qualities that keep us living here, attracting new people, and encouraging others to return.
I want to see our language, culture, and communities thrive now and for generations to come.
