Some of you may know me as Chrissie Raasay and from my work around Community Development. I was raised on Raasay, studied at Portree High School and then University at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on Skye. I have lived and worked here for much of my adult life, and I am acutely aware of the impact Highland Council has on our daily lives.
As we often find in the Highlands and Islands, being able to turn your hand to anything is always a valuable skill and is an inherent strength. Like many others, I started out in hospitality as a teenager and have gone on to work in home care, leading outdoor groups, and running Croileagan (Gaelic playgroup) sessions. Through all of this, I have also been shepherding for over 20 years and worked for 12 years in community development.

Like so many others, I volunteer my time to support community organisations and projects. I want to see community organisations and businesses being able to focus on inspirational projects, not fighting for the basics.
I have extensive experience in community engagement, representation, and development. There are other ways to ensure that out voices are heard and respected.
